When we partnered with Soho Road BID, we had one main goal, to engage with their independent businesses and shadow their community leads so the local community could recognise who we are. It was very important for Tariff Tribe to be seen as a trusted partner within the Soho Road business community. Throughout our outreach, two main case studies stood out to us. The first was a local businessman who had been trading on Soho Road for many years. He owns two Birmingham shopping centres one on Soho Road and the other on Northwood Street. He told us that his overheads from energy costs were crippling his business, saying simply, “I need help.”
We often find that one in every three business owners doesn’t know how to determine what a good energy contract looks like, and unfortunately, this business owner was a victim of an overpriced energy deal. That’s when we went into full bill validation mode, identifying which tariff the business was on, what their energy rates were, contract end date, and conducting a full audit to uncover any billing errors all on our digital platform. From this process, we achieved a substantial energy cost reduction, saving the business owner £14,181 annually through Tariff Tribe’s contract optimisation service. Both sites had been paying well above market rates before switching to the new energy tariff plan shown below.
£x/yr | Workspace #1 (Soho Road) | Workspace #2 (Northwood Street) | Combined |

| Previous cost | £22,909 | £17,156 | £40,065 |
